Philip Gallaway

Philip Gallaway has led Orchestra da Camera since 1996, and has played with the Orchestra since the late 70s. During his early professional career he played with the London Mozart Players, Kent Opera and the then newly formed Wren Orchestra.

He is also a founder member of the Coull Quartet, with whom he has performed and broadcast throughout the UK, Europe, America, the Far East and Australia. The Coull Quartet is currently Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Warwick. Born and educated in Norfolk, Philip studied violin at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he was awarded a number of prizes. His teachers have included Frederick Grinke, Sidney Griller and Clarence Myerscough. He has also worked closely with such eminent composers as Walton, Tippett, Maw and Simpson.
